Recce Activities

If you want to make the most out of your time in Uppsala, you should apply at the nations. At Smålands, we organize lots of activities, especially for new students.

Responsible for the welcome of the new students are our freshman hosts and international secretaries. They can answer all your questions about Uppsala, and Smålands and help you get settled in the city and on the nation. In addition, they arrange different activities each semester where new students can meet both new and old members. With everything from pub rounds, karaoke evenings and quizzes to sledging, coffee and ping pong tournaments, we make sure there are things for everyone!

Recce Gasque

At the end of each enrollment period, the nation organizes a gasque for new students, the Recce Gasque. In the spring, we invite the nations of Gothenburg and Gotland to Smålands for a joint gasque, and in the autumn it is organized by tradition at the nation of Gothenburg.

A mix of new and old students come to the gasque to eat, drink, sing and socialize. The dinner begins with a pre-drink and mingling, turns into a three-course dinner (where the spex of the reception hosts and international secretaries is one of the highlights) and ends with dancing right into the wee hours. This gasque is a perfect opportunity as a new student to learn how such dinners go, what songs are sung and to get a fantastic end to their recce period.

Recce Reception

Here you and your newfound Småland friends have the chance to get to know the nation and the associations. Afterwards, a simple two-course dinner prepared by the receptionists and international secretaries will be served. As usual at Småland’s parties, it includes singing, entertainment and nice company.

At the end of the dinner, it’s time for the nerve-wracking lottery for a corridor room at Smålandsgården! If you signed up for the lottery list at registration, you have a chance to win a first-hand housing contract at Smålandsgården, next door to the nation and Uppsala Cathedral.
